Is there a registration fee?
No, there is no registration fee. We do encourage you to kick off your personal fundraising by making a personal donation to your Longest Day of SMILES page.
How do I join an existing team?
Easy!
Do I have to raise a minimum amount to participate?
No, you do not have to raise a minimum amount to participate in the Longest Day of SMILES, that being said we suggest you try to raise a minimum of $240 which is the average amount needed to provide basic surgery. Choosing a goal based on this number is a great way to communicate your impact.

How will my money be used?
We invest donations responsibly and effectively, saving and transforming the lives of tens of thousands of children and their families in dozens of countries. Our administrative costs are approximately 7%, well below average for the charitable sector.
Since we launched in 2011, nearly 70% of the donations we receive go directly to funding our life-saving programs. This percentage is comparable to other international, child-focused organizations of whom you might be aware. We're very proud of this achievement and hope to improve on it in the years to come.
The remainder is reinvested in revenue-generating activities. Please understand that raising funds is critical to our capacity to survive and continue helping children. We are only able to carry out our vital work by asking caring people like yourself to join us and help create a world where no child suffers from lack of access to safe surgical care.
How do I donate to support a participant or a team?
Thank you for giving a child a new smile and a new chance at life.
Will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?
Yes, all online donations of $10 or more are provided an immediate tax receipt. Tax receipts will be emailed to you promptly after you make your online donation. If you choose to donate by cheque, tax receipts will be mailed within 10 days of processing.

Note: We prefer and encourage you not to send cash via mail. Consider taking the cash to the bank and getting a money order or writing a cheque from your personal account. Please ensure we have the full name and address information for the actual donors and we will add them to your fundraising total when received.
